Find your balance
Balanced Integrative Care (BIC) was born from Jennifer Carton’s passion for patient-centered care. As a Nurse Practitioner, she noticed a growing need for providers who truly listen and empower patients to take an active role in their health.
Gone are the days of taking medication “because the doctor said so.” We know that patients want to understand and also be part of the decision-making process. Seeing this shift, Jennifer knew healthcare needed to evolve—and she was eager to evolve with it.

NAD+ Therapy
-
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a helper molecule that exists inside each of your cells and supports many aspects of healthy aging. However, the amount of NAD+ in your body naturally falls with age. Low NAD+ levels have been linked to health concerns like aging and chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and vision loss. Interestingly, animal research has found that raising NAD+ levels may help reverse signs of aging and lower the risk of many chronic disease.
-
Supplements: Nicotinamide riboside (NR) or nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). If your body has enough of these substances, it will make its own NAD+
Diet: Foods rich in tryptophan, vitamin B3 (niacin), or precursors of NAD+ (e.g., fish, dairy, and whole grains)
Exercise: Regular physical activity boosts NAD+ levels naturally.
Fasting and Caloric Restriction: Promotes NAD+ synthesis by activating sirtuins.
Oral NAD+ supplements are ineffective.
-
1. Supports Cellular Energy Production
NAD+ is essential for converting the bodies nutrients into energy through cellular respiration.2. Enhances DNA Repair
Improved DNA repair may reduce mutations and potentially lower the risk of cancer and age-related diseases.3. Boosts Mitochondrial Health
Improves cellular energy and resilience, combating fatigue and age-related mitochondrial decline.4. Anti-Aging Effects
NAD+ levels decline with age. Restoring NAD+ has been associated with improved markers of aging, such as better skin elasticity and enhanced metabolic health.5. Improves Metabolic Health
NAD+ is involved in glucose and lipid metabolism.
Increased NAD+ levels may improve insulin sensitivity, reduce obesity, and support metabolic flexibility.6. Supports Neurological Function
It has shown potential in mitigating neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.7. Reduces Inflammation
NAD+ can suppress chronic inflammation associated with aging and metabolic disorders.8. Enhances Immune Function
NAD+ supports the function of immune cells, potentially enhancing the body’s defense against infections.
It plays a role in modulating the inflammatory response during infections or chronic diseases.9. Potential in Cardiovascular Health
It may reduce oxidative stress in the cardiovascular system and lower the risk of heart disease10. Promotes Muscle Function and Recovery
NAD+ is crucial for muscle regeneration and repair.
It may improve endurance, strength, and recovery in aging populations.11. Potential Cancer Support
Enhancing NAD+ may improve the function of healthy cells while selectively targeting cancer cells through certain therapies.12. May Aid in Addiction Recovery
Preliminary research suggests NAD+ therapy may alleviate withdrawal symptoms in substance addiction.
Family Practice
-
Our Family Nurse Practitioner, can serve as an individual's primary care provider (PCP) and sees patients newborn to elderly for physicals, well children, chronic conditions (hypertension, diabetes, etc.), and acute care (bronchitis, strep throat, ear infections, etc.). We also provide preventative care services and diagnostic testing.
-
At BIC we value our patients and want to work together with them to find the root cause of their issues and determine the best course of treatment together in a non-threatening, non-judgmental manner. This partnership between the patient and their provider increases the likelihood that patients will comply with their care plan and improved compliance leads to better health outcomes. We want our patients to know that they matter and are not just a number. As cliché as this may sound, this is how today’s patient feels.
Our patients here at BIC spend more 1 on 1 time with the provider discussing their health issues and care plans to better understand their complete needs and more importantly, their personal wishes. This includes wanting to implement a more natural, holistic approach before jumping into a treatment that includes a medication they will take possibly for the rest of their life.
-
We understand and agree there is a time when pharmaceuticals are necessary. However, there are many incidences that if we allow our bodies to function and repair as they were intended to in conjunction with more natural therapies, this is a practical option that at one time was rarely considered. We are excited to provide services here at BIC that satisfies all types of patients, traditional and/or holistic. We take pride in knowing and showing our patients that they are not just a number, and we have put together a team of individuals who are not afraid or reluctant to show it.
IV Therapy
-
IV Therapy also known as intravenous therapy, is the administration of nutrients and hydration directly into the bloodstream for immediate absorption and use by the body.
IV Therapy is the fastest way to deliver nutrients throughout the body, because it bypasses the digestive system and goes directly into the organs, resulting in a 90-100% absorption rate (as opposed to only 20-50% possible orally).
-
Intravenous (IV) vitamin therapy can have many benefits, including:
• Wound healing: IVs can help heal wounds and repair damaged cells, depending on the nutrient blend.
• Skin health: IVs can improve skin health by delivering vitamins and minerals that promote cell growth and repair. They can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and repair damage caused by UV rays.
• Immune system: IVs can boost the immune system to help fight off infections and reduce the chances of catching a cold or flu.
• Energy: IVs can restore energy at a cellular level and boost metabolism, which can lead to improved vitality and overall wellness.
• Athletic performance: IVs can provide an energy boost to improve athletic performance.
• Hangovers: IVs can replenish the body with fluids, vitamins, electrolytes, and minerals to help relieve hangovers.
• Muscle spasms: IVs can provide rapid relief for acute muscle spasms.
• Tension headaches: IVs can relieve tension headaches.
• Weight loss: IVs can increase metabolism with a blend of vitamins, minerals, and fat-burning substances.
• Absorption: IV vitamins are absorbed more efficiently by the body than oral supplements, so the body can potentially experience the full benefits faster.
-
IV Therapy varies from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on several factors such as:
The amount of fluids to be infused
Size of veins
What medications are being infused
The effects of IV therapy usually last about three to four days. But this depends on the individual. Sometimes effects can last up to two weeks after treatment.

Want to know more about BHRT?
In this video, Dr. Cory Rice breaks down what Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy is—and shares why it could be a great option for you.
BHRT
-
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) uses natural, plant-derived hormones that are chemically similar or identical to those produced by the body. The molecular similarities leads to the bodies ability to use the hormones more efficiently resulting in fewer side effects and more effective symptom relief. BHRT can be used to treat symptoms associated with perimenopause, menopause, andropause in men, thyroid disorder, adrenal fatigue, and fibromyalgia. It can also lower risk for certain medical conditions that are influenced by hormone levels, like osteoporosis, dementia, cardiovascular disease, and prostate cancer in men.
Compounded preparations are customized for individual patients by a pharmacist based on their hormonal requirements, severity of symptoms, and sensitivity to medications. Compounded hormones do not use binders, dyes, and preservatives that are found in some commercially available products, but these products are not tested for safety and effectiveness and are not approved by the FDA.
Bioidentical hormones are man-made. They’re designed so your body uses them in the same way it does your own hormones. Bioidentical hormones can be very helpful for people who suffer from a hormonal imbalance or who might not make enough hormones naturally.
-
Hormones can come in different forms like pills, creams, pellets, injections, and gels.
Without a proper balance of hormones, your body can go through unpleasant symptoms. Replacing the hormones you no longer produce with prescribed BHRT can reduce symptoms and help you achieve a better quality of life.
